With almost 3.700 employees, Unica belongs to one of the largest technical service providers of the Netherlands. Unica solves technological questions in the building environment by turning the wishes and needs of clients into functional and customized solutions. These contribute to sustainable, digital, healthy and comfortable living and working environments.

The situation

Property is subject to many fast-changing processes. A lot of property has to be more sustainably, healthily, and efficiently build and managed from the perspective of the user. Property must be able to adapt quickly when the usage of the building changes. This process hits the entire chain, from property managers and facility managers to the installation industry. In order to go along with changing demands, it is important to be able to switch tracks quickly. This is only possible when you know everything about the building, installations, and especially the people who use the building.

The solution

Together with Unica, Heroes has developed apps, based on Microsoft technology, to improve the value of buildings for customers, for example by making buildings more sustainable with IoT. Building Insight Air wasn't just valuable during the covid pandemic. It puts the user in a central position by offering information by which rooms and even entire buildings can be optimized. There will be more insight into frequently heard complaints in office, like the temperature and concentration problems. With these insights, it will be possible to think of easier solutions.

Because the information in many buildings is shredded, it is hard to create and efficiently manage the optimal surroundings for users. A great example is a monumental building in Amsterdam which has multiple user functions: offices, retail, and a museum. Visitors complain about the environment and the energy consumption is unexplainable. By using our developed apps, facility managers have much more control, and they are able to implement simple solutions. Instead of directly resorting to technical investments, it often suffices to ask a user to open a window or close a drafty door.
